mothy (Akuno-P) – Evils Kingdom (2010)

Summary

Evils Kingdom (悪ノ王国) is the fifth album by mothy (Akuno-P) and the first released through EXIT TUNES, marking the transition of the Evillious Chronicles from an independent VOCALOID project into a commercially published franchise. Rather than simply compiling earlier material, the album presents fully remastered recordings alongside several new songs, arranged in chronological order to tell the overarching story of the series.

Across fifteen tracks, the album features many of the works that defined the Evillious Chronicles, including The Daughter of Evil, The Servant of Evil, Evil Food Eater Conchita, The Madness of Duke Venomania, The Tailor of Enbizaka, Judgment of Corruption, and Heartbeat Clocktower. These songs established much of the mythology that would later be expanded through novels, manga, guidebooks and additional albums. 

Released by EXIT TUNES under the Pony Canyon distribution network, Evils Kingdom significantly increased the visibility of mothy’s work beyond the Nico Nico Douga community and helped cement the Evillious Chronicles as one of the best-known story-driven VOCALOID franchises.

Release & Version Details

This first pressing was released on 22 December 2010 under catalogue number QWCE-10031. Unlike mothy’s earlier independent AKNP releases, it received nationwide commercial distribution through EXIT TUNES. 

The first edition is particularly desirable because it included several exclusive bonuses:

• Original OBI strip
• Credit card-style collector card (styled as a platinum bank card based on The Servant of Evil)
• Fold-out lyrics poster, replacing a traditional lyric booklet
• Promotional charm (store- or campaign-specific in some distributions)

The packaging itself also contains numerous hidden references and interactive elements. Rather than printing lyrics inside the booklet, they were supplied on a separate folded sheet, while the booklet includes a timeline of the Evillious world and several puzzles revealing additional lore. 

Why It’s Significant

Evils Kingdom represents the moment the Evillious Chronicles evolved from an independent series of albums into a professionally published multimedia franchise.

By remastering earlier songs and presenting them in narrative order, it effectively became the definitive introduction to the early chronology of the series. Many fans regard it as the cornerstone release of the Evillious Chronicles.

It also marked the beginning of a long partnership between mothy and EXIT TUNES, leading to further albums, novels and official publications that expanded the Evillious universe.

Preservation Notes

• Complete first press copies should retain the OBI, collector card, lyrics poster and charm.
• The separate lyrics poster is commonly missing, as it was stored loosely inside the jewel case.
• The credit card-style collector card is frequently separated from the album and is increasingly difficult to replace.
• Confirm catalogue number QWCE-10031 and the original EXIT TUNES branding to distinguish the first commercial release.
• The jewel case’s paper inserts feature die-cut and overlay elements that should be handled carefully to avoid damage.
