Summary
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO marked the return of the Budokai Tenkaichi fighting game series after more than 15 years, retaining the Japanese series name, Sparking!, for its worldwide release.
This official SteelBook depicts Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta on the front and Super Saiyan Blue Goku on the reverse, creating a continuous battle-themed design across the case. The interior uses a comparatively restrained blue celestial design.
Release & Version Details
This is a standalone SteelBook rather than a standard retail game case. The interior carries Bandai Namco and copyright markings together with “NOT FOR SALE”, identifying it as a non-retail promotional item.
No game is included with the preserved example.
Why It’s Significant
Sparking! ZERO revived one of the best-known Dragon Ball game series, following 2007’s Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The SteelBook provides a physical artefact associated with that revival and prominently represents Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms.
Preservation Notes
The illustrated exterior is vulnerable to surface scratching, edge wear and dents. Particular care should be taken with the darker areas of the artwork, where fine scratches may be more visible.

- The Japanese Budokai Tenkaichi games were originally titled Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!, explaining the revival’s Sparking! ZERO name.
- The previous main entry, Sparking! METEOR / Budokai Tenkaichi 3, was released in 2007, creating a gap of roughly 17 years between main entries.
- Unlike its predecessors, Sparking! ZERO uses the Sparking! name internationally rather than returning to the Budokai Tenkaichi branding.
