This preserved PS4 example includes the large Aurora Edition metal case and internal game SteelBook. 

A high-resolution scan of the large-format mutant artwork has been preserved and is available to download below.

Why It’s Significant

The Aurora Limited Edition is particularly notable for its unconventional packaging. Rather than simply including a SteelBook inside a cardboard collector’s box, it effectively places a SteelBook inside another steel case, making it a distinctive example of late-2010s physical game presentation.

Preservation Notes

Both metal cases are vulnerable to scratching, dents and edge wear, while the large outer case is particularly susceptible to storage damage because of its size. Complete examples should also contain The World of Metro art book.

Trivia & Interesting Facts

• The Aurora edition takes its name from the steam locomotive that becomes the travelling home of Artyom and his companions throughout Metro Exodus.
• The oversized metal case is unusual even among collector’s editions: it acts as a presentation container for a second, conventional-sized SteelBook inside.
• Metro Exodus was the first mainline Metro game to move much of its action away from Moscow’s underground tunnels, with the journey spanning multiple regions and seasons.
• The series is based on the fictional universe created by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, beginning with his novel Metro 2033.
• The included The World of Metro art book contained concept and production artwork. For this archived copy, the missing book is partially represented digitally through our high-resolution scan of its large-format mutant artwork.
