mothy (Akuno-P) – The Lunacy of Duke Venomania Comicalize Ver. Bonus CD (2012)

Summary

This CD accompanied the Japanese special edition of The Lunacy of Duke Venomania (ヴェノマニア公の狂気), a manga adaptation illustrated by Reki Bito (尾藤れき) from an original scenario by mothy (Akuno-P). The special edition was released through Enterbrain’s B’s-LOG Comics label on 28 December 2012.

The manga expands upon the story originating with mothy’s Vocaloid song, centred on Sateriasis Venomania and the sin of Lust within what became the wider Evillious Chronicles. The adaptation was notable for exploring elements of Venomania’s background not presented in the original song.

Rather than being a commercially released single, this disc formed part of the manga’s special-edition package alongside a scenario book. The disc itself is explicitly marked NOT FOR SALE.

Release & Version Details

The standard manga edition was issued separately without the special-edition supplements. The more expensive special edition included both the scenario book and this exclusive CD.

The recording was produced by mothy specifically in connection with the manga adaptation. Contemporary descriptions refer to the included recording as The Lunacy of Duke Venomania – Remix Ver., while the physical disc itself prominently identifies it as Comicalize Ver. (コミカライズ Ver.).

The disc features dedicated monochrome-and-red Venomania artwork and credits mothy for lyrics and composition. Unlike mothy’s conventional album releases, it was intended solely as an accompaniment to the manga rather than an independent retail music release.

Why It’s Significant

This release documents the expansion of The Lunacy of Duke Venomania from a Vocaloid song into a broader narrative work. It represents a period when mothy’s interconnected songs were increasingly being adapted into novels, manga and other physical media, helping establish the larger narrative now known as the Evillious Chronicles.
